The most common types of moistening systems used in wet wipes machine include:

Spray bar systems.

A spray bar runs horizontally across the machine and sprays moisture onto the wipes as they pass through. This is a popular, affordable option. Spray bars can be manual, semi-automatic or fully automatic.

Foamer systems.

A foamer or foaming pad sprays moisture in the form of foam onto the wipes. Foamers often produce a softer, fluffier wipe. Some are mounted vertically or at an angle.

Sponge roller systems.

Sponge rollers or absorber rollers absorb and apply moisture to the wipes through physical contact. The sponge rolls saturate themselves with liquid from a reservoir and then roll the moisture onto the wipes.

Misting systems.

Fine misters or foggers spray a fine mist of moisture onto the wipes. Misting can provide very even, light moisture application. Misting systems tend to be more expensive, complex and higher-maintenance.

Atomizing spray systems.

Atomizing nozzles break moisture into ultra-fine droplets that are sprayed onto the wipes. This also provides very even and lightweight moisture application. Like misting, atomizing spray systems tend to cost more and require more maintenance.

Foam and spray combination.

Some systems combine a vertical foamer with a horizontal spray bar to apply both foam and liquid spray moisture. This can produce extra soft wipes with very even saturation. But it also requires more components so it may be more complex and expensive.

Brush systems.

In a brush system, brushes spin onto or against the wipes to apply moisture through a brushing action. The brushes are soaked in liquid from a reservoir. Brush systems tend to roughen up the wipe surface a bit but provide very even moisture coverage, especially for thick or textured wipe materials.

Sponge/brush combined.

A few systems use both sponge rollers and brushes together to produce very soft, ultra-absorbent wipes with evenly applied moisture. But these combined systems are often the most complex, expensive and highest-maintenance options.
